How Do You React?

No matter how sincere our intentions are, no matter how hard we try to make things right, there are still occasions when we experience disappointments brought about by negative criticisms.  We work hard, sometimes to the point of sacrificing our own needs, just to be of help to people; yet, what we give or do is never enough, and we are still labeled as selfish.  And whether we like it or not, there will be people who will rain on our parade.

I have read that it has been statistically proven that 10% of people will never like us - not necessarily due to our fault.  We simply cannot please everybody. Being "acceptable" or "likable" to everyone is impossible to achieve.

We have no control over other people's actions but we can control our own reaction.  It is not always easy, but in order to lead a stress-free life, we should not allow other people's words and actions  control our lives.

Lord, help me not to allow others to steal my joy and peace
by the things they say and do.
I want to be kind and cordial,
but I won't let my mood be determined by others.
Amen.
