Lady on a Horse

I don't understand much about the sport, but I love watching equestrian especially women riders. Equestriennes look very graceful riding their horses while doing their routines. Horse riding is considered to be a royal sport. It could very well be a rich person's sport/game. Horses are very expensive. A well-trained thoroughbred costs a fortune. Add to it the maintenance and horse equipment. It will cost the ordinary person his arm and leg.

Down in the Basement

One of the fondest memories I had as a kid was hanging out with my cousins in their basement. We called it the "underground". They have a huge house with a basement used as the children's study room and library. I loved the room because it was pretty, neat and orderly and air conditioned. My cousins who are now all grown up and married (except for one) and have homes of their own. I think the children's room down in the basement was converted into some kind of a bedroom in the later years.

Basement are 'extra' spaces in our homes that are usually used as stock room, office, guest room, laundry room, or play room. When arranged nicely, it is cozy place to stay. A common complaint, however, is the basement moisture, which may either be caused by condensation, poor grading, poor sub-surface drainage, defective window wells or gutters.

Health Risk

According to the American Cancer Society, death rate from cancer in the U.S. has continued to decline since the 1900's. Factors like early detection and treatment, prevention and lifestyle changes have helped.

Mesothelioma is a rare form of cancer that is primarily caused by exposure to asbestos. It is difficult to diagnose and treat. People working in asbestos-related industries like shipyard workers, those working in asbestos mines and mills, heating and construction industries are at risk. Environmental and secondary exposure are also dangerous.

Today, there are a number of organizations disseminating information on mesothelioma in an effort to help combat this deadly disease and help those suffering from it.

Saturday Afternoon at the Driving Range

Our Weekend Memoirs

On Saturday afternoon, I went with my hubby to a nearby driving range in the North Campus of Broward College in Coconut Creek. While he was practicing his swings, I spent my time taking shots .

Can you see hubby's reflection in the putter?

Reflections on the Waters of Homosassa Springs

Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park has long been an attraction to Florida visitors interested in various types of wildlife.

The boat ride from the main visitor center to the wildlife park is in itself an experience. The waters of the spring are so clear that one can clearly see the reflection on the water of the lush greenery surrounding the area.

As my initial entry to Shadow Shot Sunday, I am posting a shot I took yesterday at the driving range of the Broward College North Campus in Coconut Creek.

Drink Up

Next to oxygen, water is the most essential element that our body needs in order to survive. Our body cells depend upon water in order for them to function normally. Water protects our body organs, moisturizes the air in our lungs, regulates body temperature and metabolism and flushes out toxins from our body. It is recommended that we drink at least eight 8-ounce glasses of water daily.

What we drink is also very important. It must be free from bacteria, chemicals and toxins. We should be careful when drinking tap or well water, or even those coming from rivers and lakes. They may be contaminated and pose a danger to our health. Drinking water that have been purified or coming from water filters are safe and they also taste better.

Unrequited Love

Scenic Sunday

When beauty grows too great to bear
How shall I ease me of its ache,
For beauty more than bitterness
Make the heart break.

Now while I watch the dreaming sea
With isles like flowers against her breast,
Only one voice in all the world
Could give me rest.

Beautiful Day

Our Weekend Memoirs

Saturday morning ...

I woke up early in the morning and dragged my hubby to Deerfield Beach, a 15-minute drive from home, to watch the sunrise. The sun was scheduled to rise at 7:09 AM but we were at the beach by 6:45 AM. I loved the feel of the cool early morning breeze as I walked along the seashore.

The sun was up and the water in our pool was warm so hubby and I spent most of the afternoon taking a dip in the pool.

Can you spot my man?
