Sunday Afternoon at the Driving Range

Our Weekend Memoirs

I had planned to go to the beach early this morning to watch the sunrise but I woke up late. This afternoon, however, I went with banabear to a nearby driving range located in the North Campus of Broward College. While he was hitting golf balls, I was busy taking shots.

Saturday at Home

I did not do overtime work this weekend so for a change, I am at home "resting". In between Facebook and blogging, I have tons of chores to do. I need to vacuum, clean the bathrooms, the kitchen, the fridge, do the laundry, rearrange the cupboard and inventory the food items.... my list is endless.

The weather today is beautiful and the water at the pool looks very inviting. I had planned to do a bit of swimming today but I am not feeling well enough to take a dip in the pool. Besides, I have to finish my chores before Monday.

I want to go to the beach early tomorrow morning to catch the sunrise. I hope the weather will cooperate with my plans :)

He Will Carry You

The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my saviour.
My God is my rock in whom I find protection.
He is my shield, the power that saves me,
and my place of safety.

Cutting Back the Years

While waiting for my turn at the grocery check out counter this evening, I browsed through the covers of major women's magazines displayed on the shelves. It's amazing that three or four of the magazines had the same topic: anti-aging products. These magazines must know how important this issue is among their target audience.

We may not able to completely turn back the hands of time, but maintaining a healthy lifestyle: enough sleep, proper nutrition, exercise, and other healthy practices- will slow down the process. What about products sold in the market? Which one works ? It'll probably help if we check the anti aging product reviews to know which one is worth the try.

Getting Ready for the Cold Weather

The autumn season has begun and although we are still enjoying the warmth of the sun (in between showers of blessings), it won't be long when the atmosphere will be colder as the temperature starts to decrease. Last year, we experienced a very cold autumn (and winter) here in sunny Florida. I had to buy extra cardigans, knits and tights to keep myself warm. It is in these times when home heaters become our best friends.

My Special Day

The 15th of September is my special day.

This year, my day was made special by some special people.

When I arrived at work, birthday greetings were posted on my cubicle. A chocolate frosted doughnut with a candle was waiting for me, too. All these were from my friend, Graciela, a very sweet and kind person. She and another friend, Janet, also bought me a birthday lunch.

Banabear treated me to a special birthday dinner at The Melting Pot, a fondue restaurant, at Boca Raton. I especially love the spicy cheese fondue (appetizer) and the decadent dark chocolate fondue we had for dessert.

Below are some of the pictures taken during my birthday.

Two very special people in my life sent me their birthday greetings. Reading the cards made me teary-eyed. Thank you Nathan and Rozene.

As usual, greetings from friends and family here in the U.S. and back home were overflowing. Thanks to the wonders of technology: email, cellphone and Facebook.

Thank you, God, for everything
The big things and the small,
For every good gift comes from God,
The giver of them all.

Being Insured

In life, we have to prepare for the inevitable: illness, death, and other losses. I am glad that I am covered under my husband's medical insurance because medical treatment is expensive here in the U.S.

Life insurance is also another type of insurance. However, because of the high rate of premiums, people are sometimes discouraged from getting a life insurance policy. An alternative to this is the term life insurance which is less expensive compared to the former. To learn more about the benefits and coverage, one can research about term life insurance online. One can then decide if this type of insurance is beneficial for him and his loved ones.

Job-Searching

With the advent of the internet, job-searching can be done even at home. One just have to know the right places (websites) where to look. I was able to land my present job by posting my resume online.

Jobs in the health care and medical industry remain on top of the list among in-demand and high-paying jobs in the U.S. Most of them do not even require a four-year college degree. In the US, one can become a registered nurse after a two-year RN course. A licensed practical nurse takes one year of vocational training. If you do an online medical job search, you will find these and various other health and medical related jobs available. The market is so in-demand that nurses and other healthcare workers from the Philippines continue to flock the US hospitals and facilities.

Are You Busy?

Sunday Morning at Deerfield Beach

Our Weekend Memoirs

Scenic Sunday

I woke up to a beautiful sunny Sunday. Pretty soon, we will be saying goodbye to the warmth of the sun as we usher in the cool autumn season. I haven't had a restful weekend in a long time since I started working. So, this morning, I took advantage of my free day and drove to Deerfield Beach (about 10 minutes away).

TV Time

I am not a tv person; that is, I do not spend a lot of my free time in front of the boob tube. However, there are nights when I can just relax on the couch and watch movies on Netflix or entertain myself with tv shows. I even love watching re-runs of sit-coms.

It is great having a wide-screen high definition tv with surround sound. It's just like being in the movie theater where you can vividly hear the bangs and the booms.

TV has evolved from the black and white tiny tube in a huge wooden box to plasma, LCD, HDTV, and we now even have the 3D TV. Screens have also become flatter and bigger, and the video have become more vivid and alive.

Christmas-time is fast approaching. If I have the means, I might buy my family back home a Samsung HDTV. It is one of the better brands in the market according to the Consumer Reports. It is time for them to enjoy a better tv time.

My Visit to Butterfly World

Butterfly World is the first and largest butterfly park in the world. Located inside Tradewinds Park at Coconut Creek, Florida, it is a 10-minute drive from home.

Here's a compilation of the pictures I took from my visit last Monday.

Moms with Tots

Women with strollers are a common sight at the shopping mall, the grocery, and the park. When I drive during the weekends, I even see women jogging or briskwalking while pushing a stroller.
Strollers with not just one but two kids in it are becoming popular, too.

The other day, I was at the mall and saw a double stroller with a toddler and a baby inside. The phil and teds explorer is a unique double stroller that can comfortably accommodate an infant and a toddler. It is sturdy but not bulky so it is easy to bring along in crowded places like the mall.

Mommies, you might want to check this out.
