Stick Your Neck Out

Have you experienced getting a rash or pimple on your neck? I remember getting one. Fortunately, it was not that bad because it was just one small pimple which I was able to get rid of easily.

Acne is not limited to the face. They can pop up in one's back or neck. When skin oil and bacteria gets clogged up in our pores, we develop rashes. While pimples on the face is easily treated because of its visibility and the texture of our skin in that area, oftentimes back and neck acne are difficult, or we just take them for granted until it worsens. If you have rashes on your neck, avoid touching or scratching it to prevent it from getting more irritated. The bacteria will worsen the skin's condition. Avoid wearing collared clothes, too. Just like when you have face acne, you have to make sure you properly cleanse your neck, and apply topical treatment. If it does not get better, seek medical advise.

Is It Worth It?

Persons with weight issues often resort to taking diet pills in their effort to lose weight. However, there are diet pill side effects that one must be careful about. Insomnia, headaches, dry mouth, rapid heart beat, and diarrhea are some of the less serious side effects. However, there are pills which contain strong and/or dangerous ingredients that can wreck havoc to a person's nervous system or may cause cardiac arrest. If you are planning to take diet pills, you should be very careful about what you are taking. Know carefully what the ingredients are, the precautions and the contraindications.

Days of Summer Art Photo Exhibit

I joined a recent photo exhibit at the Hall of Justice in Bacolod City, Philippines. The exhibit, entitled Days of Summer, was organized by a group court employees of the Hall of Justice under the leadership of Legal Researcher Joan Honoridez, an accomplished artist. The employees themselves were mostly art students of Joan. The 22 participants included court employees and their children, lawyers, and friends of the Hall of Justice.

My 5 entries included:

Ang Tibagring (The Dragonfly- taken at Coconut Creek, FL)

Iguana on Patrol (taken at Coconut Creek, FL)

Sultry Sunset (taken at Honolulu, Hawaii)

Rainbow over Waikiki skyline (taken at Waikiki, Hawaii)

Visiting Heron (taken at Coconut Creek, FL)

The exhibit poster was designed by Bea Mocorro:

No Smoking

The ill-effects of smoking cannot be emphasized enough. We know how harmful it is not only to the smoker but also to the person who receives second-hand smoke.

I know of people who tried to quit smoking. There were those who succeeded and are now free of that unhealthy habit; others have quit for a few months, only to go back to their vice again; and then there are others who have come up with alibis to justify why they cannot quit the habit.

I read that the best way to quit smoking is to do it cold turkey. However, not every person is strong enough to say goodbye to cigarettes. For others who, at least, have the desire to quit but are too addicted to the substance, they resort to aids like nicotine patch, acupuncture, nicotine gum, lozenges, tablets, even hypnosis. Recently, we have seen in the market 'smokeless' cigarettes which are said to taste like cigarettes, look like cigarettes but are not really cigarettes. They are called electronic cigarettes. The health issues on the user is still debatable but people around smokers who are otherwise subject to second-hand smoke may be benefited from this new product because of the absence of smoke.

Celebrating Independence

As the United States of America celebrates it's Independence Day, may every American realize how blessed he is that he lives in a free and democratic society, where each person has an unalienable right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Discount Shopping

The other day, I saw the Shopping Mom on TV doing her grocery shopping with discount coupons. Her shopping cart was filled with grocery items but she ended up paying only 89 cents. Amazing, huh! I see a lot of those discount coupons in the mail, newspapers, and in shopping center flyers but I have not made use of them. I have friends who were were able to get huge savings through discounts coupons. I should be using those coupons, too. After all, every bit of money saved, even when it's not much, goes a long way. People shopping online can also enjoy discounts. I've done my online shopping several times and taken advantage of promotional offers and and free shipping. And, of course, there are also onecall coupons that give discounts.

With All I Am

Let's start the day singing praises to the Lord.

Have a blessed Sabbath!

But I will sing of your strength,
in the morning I will sing of your love;
for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble.
- Psalm 59:16
