Lady Justice

English: True/Truth
Filipino: Totoo/Katotohanan

Lady Justice (Justitia)

As the symbol of justice and truth, she is blindfolded to make known that justice is meted out objectively to everybody, rich or poor, without fear or favor.

This is the statue of the Lady Justice found at the Hall of Justice of Bacolod City, Philippines, where I used to work before migrating to the U.S.

All Things Bright and Beautiful

All things bright and beautiful,

Honolulu, Hawaii

Coconut Creek, Florida

Ko Olina, Oahu, Hawaii

All creatures great....

North Shore, Hawaii

Honolulu Zoo, Hawaii

...and small

Waikiki Beach, Hawaii

All things wise and wonderful:
The Lord God made them all.

Each little flower that opens,

Ewa Beach, Hawaii

Bacolod City, Philippines

Waikiki, Hawaii

Each little bird that sings,

Honolulu Zoo, Hawaii

Deerfield Beach, Florida

He made their glowing colors,
He made their tiny wings.

The purple headed mountains,

Kaneohe, Hawaii

The river running by,

Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii

The sunset

Hollywood, Florida

and the morning

Summit of Mt. Haleakala, Maui, Hawaii

That brightens up the sky.

The cold wind in the winter,

Avon Park, Florida

The pleasant summer sun,

Waikiki Beach, Hawaii

Magic Island, Honolulu, Hawaii

The ripe fruits in the garden,

Avon Park, Florida

He made them every one.

The tall trees in the greenwood,

Waikiki, Hawaii

Hale Koa, Honolulu, Hawaii

The meadows where we play,

Ala Moana Beach Park, Honolulu, Hawaii

The rushes by the water,

North Shore, Hawaii

Magic Island, Honolulu, Hawaii

To gather every day.

He gave us eyes to see them,
And lips that we might tell
How great is God Almighty,
Who has made all things well.

Thank you, Lord, for the opportunity to enjoy the wonders of your creation!

Spring is Here

Our Weekend Memoirs

Springtime is here again
It's getting warmer everyday

Flowers
Pretty little flowers
And the grass is growing high

Daytime
We have much more daytime
And the days are getting long

-From Springtime is Here Again
by Bobby Susser

I love staying outdoors nowadays that the breeze is not that chilly anymore. Well, sometimes it still is, but more tolerable compared to the previous months. Our front yard is coming back to life with flowers of different colors, the greens at our backyard look more luscious, the birds are happily chirping, and banabear loves to fish at the small lake out in the backyard. Oh, yes, the iguana is lurking around, too.

One of the things I love about Hawaii aside from the rainbows and beautiful weather is watching sailboats on a late afternoon . . .

Jesus Loves Me

This classic children's song tells of Jesus's love for us.

Happy Sabbath!

For God so loved the world
that He gave His One and Only Son
that whosoever believes in Him
shall not perish but have eternal life.

The Woman is now a Driver

Hubby was, and still is, very strict when it comes to my driving. When he was teaching me to drive the "American way" (as opposed to my Philippine way of driving), oftentimes we would end up getting into each other's nerves, or worse, on a 'head-on collision'. It came to a point when he no longer allowed me to drive the car. However, I am the type of person who does not easily give up, and one day, without his knowledge, I went to the Florida DMV and took the road test, which I passed in just one take. Two weeks after getting my driver's license, I gave him the surprise of his life when I handed him my license.

Driving has afforded me more mobility and a new sense of freedom. I now drive myself to school, church, hair salon, the shopping center and do errands on my own. Being able to drive is not only advantageous to me but it has also made hubby's life easier because he can now do his own activities instead of driving (and waiting for) me to my appointments. Pretty soon, I am buying my own car so at this point, while doing research on the SUV model that am considering, I am also looking at auto insurance quote by different companies to find out whether I can get a more affordable insurance rate than what my hubby is paying now for his car.
