Working Girl

On Tuesday morning I interviewed for a job at a law firm in Ft. Lauderdale. At around 6:30 in the evening, I received the good news. Today is my first day at my new job in a large law firm specializing in foreclosure, bankruptcy representations and evictions and I am assigned in one of the divisions in the foreclosure department. Although I have over 18 years of experience in the legal profession before I left the Philippines, and I continue to study here in the US (I just finished the Winter semester and I am now taking summer class), my short stint working in a law firm in Honolulu (I also did volunteer work with the Legal Aid Society) was in a different field. With my new job, I am venturing into a field of law of which I have less familiarity. Today, I felt like a student again, but this time, in a "hands-on" classroom.

Now that I am a working student and a housewife, I have to learn how to manage my time wisely. My work ends at 5:30 PM and I have to drive directly to school for my 6:00 to 9:30 PM class. When I get home from work (or school), I still have to do the household chores. It is in times like this that I miss Delia, our ever-loyal help back home in the Philippines.
