Our Weekend Memoirs

I had a week-long vacation with my cousins in Central Florida. It was seven days of fun, sightseeing, and lots of healthy eating (mostly Filipino food). I took more than six hundred pictures of my vacation, some which I am going to share with you here in OWM.

This week, my subject is Food. Hence, the title "Burp!"

Florida is always associated with "oranges". During my visit to my cousin's place, I saw orange groves everywhere.

Here are some photos I took of the orange trees in their backyard.

Aside from oranges of different varieties, I also found plenty of "Filipino vegetables" in my cousin's backyard like malunggay, camote tops...

balimbing (star fruit)

Everyday, I was treated to a sumptuous, albeit, healthy feast- mostly Filipino dishes.

sweet and sour fish

I don't know what they're called. Dilis?

My cousin and I went to McCracken Farms at Polk County to buy pomelo and strawberries. I bought a couple of bottled McCracken goodies like the all natural baby beets (my New Year's present for my friend, Noelle), sweet and spicy mustard, jalapeno mustard, spicy pickles, and peach flavored hot sauce.

More of my vacation memoirs next week ......

Pssst, you are making me envious of the green papaya, they are good pickled, like achara! And the star fruit, they are so expensive here! And the orange state of Florida sure do produce abundant oranges, especially mandarin.

I am so glad you have enjoyed your holidays. Will look forward for more of your photos to share!

Oh I love this post MsRay. Napakaganda nang mga photos na kuha mo. Very luscious looking yung mga oranges. I just don 't know what that green fruit is. Yung maliliit na isda ay dilis, anchovies sa States. Masarap yan pag pinalutong sa prito. Oh, you are so beautiful in your photos MsRay. You look so slim and sexy. I thought you will look a little plump because of the usual holiday food splurge, lol. But there you are, beautiful enough to enter a beauty contest, lol. BTW, Rose (chubskulit) and John are my friends too. I hope and pray that you are well and fine and in the best of health. Thanks for the beautiful (because of you, lol) post. God bless you always.
