On Riding Breeches

Have you noticed that horse riders wear classic and conservatively colored breeches? Compared to gymnasts and swimmers (especially those in synchronized swimming) who can often be seen wearing flashy and eye-catching colors, horse riders usually stick to brown, beige, white, dark blue or black.

I read today that tradition and horse riding competition rules dictate that a horse rider's clothing should be classic, conservative and quiet in design. White is a popular color of choice in dressage and show jumping while beige, tan, light gray and rust are colors of choice for hunt-style equestrians. A beautifully designed top combined with a perfectly fitted pair of breeches makes an attractive equestrian.
