On Drug Abuse

News about celebrities hooked on drugs is so common that we no longer consider it news. The King of Rock n' Roll died in the mid-70's due to drug overdose. Actor John Belushi died of cocaine overdose. The King of Pop, Micheal Jackson was reportedly addicted to painkillers. Then there's Heath Ledger, Amy Winehouse, fashion superstar Kate Moss, Robert Downey, Jr., Owen Wilson, Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears, the list is endless. We have seen how drugs destroyed not only their careers and their lives, but also the lives of their families and loved ones. Luckily, some of them were able to go into drug rehab before they totally wrecked themselves and those around them.

Drug abuse is not exclusive among celebrities. It affects thousands of people, from every socioeconomic status. The good news is: there is help available. With proper medical intervention and rehabilitation program plus the support of people close to them, there is hope for victims of drug abuse.

You are right, the drug problem has expanded far beyond celebrities. Fueled by prescription drugs, more and more are becoming addicted to OxyContin and legal heroin drugs. They mix these drugs and suddenly they are gone.
