Constructing a Bahay Kubo
The bahay kubo (Nipa hut) is an indigenous house used in the Philippines. It is made out of wood, bamboo slats tied together for the wall and floor, with a thatched roof using nipa or anahaw leaves. Although houses in the Philippines are now made of concrete materials, one can still see nipa huts, mostly in the rural areas.
My friends, Peping and Carolyn had a nipa hut constructed in their beach property at Sipalay, Negros Occidental, to be used as their rest house/cottage when they spend their weekends at the beach.
