Sailing

Our Weekend Memoirs

Yesterday afternoon, my good friend Sylvia, picked me up at my volunteer work at a law firm in Boca Raton. We went to an Asian store at Deerfield Beach to browse around for some goodies. When she called her husband, he was going out to sail and we decided to join him.

Sailing is very popular in South Florida (sometimes called the Gold Coast) where the weather is always sunny and warm even in the winter months. Everyday, one can see boats cruising around the coastal waterways or canals surrounding this part of Florida.

We started out at Pompano Beach where their boat was docked. Our first stopover was at the Lighthouse Point Marina where we chanced upon George and Marilyn who also joined us. We sailed around Hillsboro Canal and the intracoastal waterway in Deerfield Beach. The weather was beautiful and I even saw a rainbow.

It's not far down to paradise
At least it's not for me
And if the wind is right you can sail away
And find tranquility
The canvas can do miracles
Just you wait and see
Believe me

It's not far to never never land
No reason to pretend
And if the wind is right you can find the joy
Of innocence again
The canvas can do miracles
Just you wait and see
Believe me

.... a beautiful Friday afternoon.
Perfect for cruising around.

Sailing
Takes me away
To where I've always heard it could be
Just a dream and the wind to carry me
And soon I will be free

.... the perks of living near the coast

Fantasy
It gets the best of me
When I'm sailing
All caught up in the reverie
Every word is a symphony
Won't you believe me

.... open up. Here we come.

It's not far back to sanity
At least it's not for me
And when the wind is right you can sail away
And find serenity
The canvas can do miracles
Just you wait and see
Believe me

.... the sun is going down. Time to go home.
