Waikiki by Night

Waikiki, Friday Night

Finally, I was able to persuade banabear to walk around Waikiki on a Friday night.  I'm glad he enjoyed it.

After dinner at Roy's Restaurant in Lewers Street, we decided to cruise around Waikiki until we found a good parking spot beside the Honolulu Zoo, across the famous Waikiki Beach.   The sidewalks were filled with tourists enjoying the sites and activities around the area.  One thing I like about Waikiki, even at night, is its being "child" and "family" friendly, i.e., one cannot find prostitutes, pimps or people with questionable looks parading the sidewalks.

The atmosphere is very festive as 'artists' line up the sidewalks to showcase their talents: mimes, Hello Kitty doing the hula dance, musicians, artists who will do your portrait as you sit on a small folded chair on the sidewalk, tattoo artists, magicians, psychics, fortune tellers and even massage therapists.   If you are in Waikiki Beach early Friday evening, you will even be treated to a free hula show and fireworks display.

Waikiki is indeed an exotic place to visit. It is indeed a veritable tourist paradise. Thanks for featuring it in your post. God bless you always.
