Online Education

In today's competitive world, education, training and experience are very important. It is for this reason that I decided to go back to school here in the U.S. Although I already had seventeen years of experience as an attorney in the Philippines, the U.S. and Hawaii legal systems are different; and in order to have a competitive chance of getting good employment in the legal field, I have to be knowledgeable in US (and Hawaii, because I am a Hawaii resident for the time being) laws.

The field of business is also very competitive, which makes continuing education of utmost importance, to be able to acquire the right knowledge, technique and skills.

A couple of months ago, hubby and I sat in a seminar in Honolulu conducted by Nouveau Riche, a real estate investment education company offering courses to people interested in educating themselves about real estate investment. Founded by Jim and Mary Piccolo, they are the same brains behind Nouveau University, a new online business university offering courses to working professionals and entrepreneurs, teaching them the technical skills needed in building and operating a business.

Attending a traditional school is not very convenient for working individuals who have to juggle their time between school and work. Factors like schedule, location, accessibility, work and course load must be taken into consideration. With the advent of schools offering online courses, more opportunities are now open to working individuals interested in going to school but do not have enough time to attend a traditional classroom instruction.

Nouveau University offers Associate of Science (AS) and Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degrees in the field of Accounting, Finance, Marketing, Real Estate Investing and Small Business Management. Aside from its degree programs, it also offers shorter Certificate Programs in the same field. With its recent acquisition of the Institute of Construction Management & Technology (ICMT), Nouveau University is adding another program by offering Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Construction Management and Construction Technology with specialization in construction operations, residential construction management, and land management. Nouveau University is staffed by highly-qualified administrators and faculty, headed by Dr. Laura Palmer Noone, retired President of the University of Phoenix. Dr. Noone has been named the Chief Executive Officer of the university.

If your inclination is in the field of business, look into what this online academic community has to offer. You might find something new of interest.

People say to me, "You were a roaring success. How did you do it?"
I go back to what my parents taught me. Apply yourself.
Get all the education you can, but then, by God,
do something. Don't just stand there, make something happen.
