Let the Sunshine In

10 Reasons that Made Me Smile Today:

1. God loves me.
I should not be afraid for I know He is with me every step of the way.

2. Bonding time with bana-bear.
My husband was mostly home this week because of a cold so we were able to spend a lot of time together. This afternoon, I was able to persuade him to take a walk from the house to the town center. Although we just live across the highway from the Ewa Town Center (about 7-minute walk), he's never gone to the grocery on foot. This afternoon was his first time to do so. It was wonderful walking hand-in-hand with him, enjoying the cool windy afternoon.

I took this shot this afternoon while we were waiting for the green light to turn red so that we can cross the street towards the Town Center. Iroquois Rd. is the main road entering Ewa by Gentry at Sonoma (where we live).

3. Waking up refreshed this morning.
I have Saturday morning classes and because I just commute by bus to school, I have to get up at 5:30 AM. I usually stay up very late on Friday nights (2 or sometimes 3 AM) cramming for my Legal Research class so I'd wake up groggy and in a rush on Saturday mornings. Last night, I went to bed earlier than usual (a little bit past 12 midnight) so this morning, I woke up feeling rested and ready for the day.

4. Receiving encouraging messages from dear friends.
I got a text message from Marlene DV (in CA) this afternoon and an e-mail from Maritess (in Bacolod) this evening. They are two of my many "guardian angels."

5. It's Saturday.
Back home, the Sabbath used to be my most favorite part of the week because it's my rest day, church day, socializing day (with church friends), lazy afternoon day. Now that am back to school, I always look forward to Saturday afternoons when I get out of the classroom because it signals the start of my 'rest day'.

6. Tomorrow's Sunday and bana-bear is going to church.
I mentioned in my last week's post that bana-bear started attending mass again. Even if we don't belong to the same faith, I am going to accompany him. I am happy that he's re-discovering the Lord.

7. Receiving extra assignments from the sheriff. He's looking out for me.

8. Good health.
In spite of the inclement weather, I haven't been sick. Thank you, Lord, for the blessing of good health.

9. Getting a TCBY treat from bana-bear.
So what if it's carb laden, I enjoyed every spoonful I had this afternoon.

and...

10. Receiving this Smile Stone Award from one of the coolest mamas in blogosphere, Riaboo.

Oh, let it shine, c'mon
Now everybody just sing along
Let the sun shine in
Open up your heart and let it shine on in
When you are lonely, let it shine on
Got to open up your heart and let it shine on in
And when you feel like you've been mistreated
And your friends turn away
Just open your heart, and shine it on in
