The Road to Recovery

Alcohol is the most commonly used psychoactive drug in the world and abuse leads to addiction. Alcohol addiction is a chronic disease that wreaks havoc not only to the person's physical, mental and emotional well-being but also destroys families and personal relationships. I should know- I used to live with an alcoholic.

As with other serious disorders, medical intervention is needed to treat alcohol addiction. Treatment includes detoxification, isolating the person from alcoholic influences, psychological/emotional support and counseling.

There are many rehabilitation and treatment facilities around the country for people with alcohol addiction problems. However, since each person has a different addiction history, it is wise to consider an alcohol rehab or drug treatment center that offers individualized treatment tailored to the specific background and needs of the patient; also, one that offers both conventional and holistic medical treatments.

If you or a loved one is suffering from alcohol addiction, it is important to make the right move now and begin the road to recovery.
