Never-ending Trust

Proverbs 3: 5-6 has been my favorite Bible verse since I was a student and which I can recite by heart. The memory verse reminds me that even in times of pain and uncertainty, when tomorrow looks bleak and life seem hopeless, I should never stop believing in God's goodness and should count on Him to show me the way.

Life is a journey - it has its ups and downs. When everything around me is rosy, and I am immersed in happiness and enjoying the pleasures of the world, my conversations with the Lord sometimes tend to be shallow. Yes, I always thank Him for the blessings that He's abundantly showered me but sometimes they come in the form of "quick prayers".

It is during my lowest moments, when am lonely and depressed, that I feel a deep connection with the Lord. When confused and desperate for answers, I lift up everything to Him believing that He will guide me through life's difficult journey. The path that I tread may be difficult, the road may be dark , but I should not lose faith that He will lead me to the right direction. I know that the trials I experience are the Lord's way to refine me, just as a diamond is put on fire to make it shine to perfection. Believers know that, but sometimes, because of our impatience, we fail to hear the Lord speaking to us and we fall into hopelessness and bitterness.

My good friend, Marlene, sent me an inspiring message from one of the "Power of the Praying" books: "Don't give to impatience. Seeing answers to your prayers can take time.... Be patient to persevere and wait for God to heal. Keep in mind that you are imperfect. Only the Lord is perfect. Look to God as the source of all you want to see happen in your relationship and don't worry how it will happen. It's your responsibility to pray. It's God's job to answer. Leave it in His hands."

We will surely encounter storms and strife along our journey, but as long as we seek the Lord's guidance and trust where He leads us, we will reach our destination.

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight.
- Proverbs 3:5-6
