A Hair Story

It has been said that hair is a woman's crowning glory and healthy looking hair and a good hairstyle can enhance one's appearance and self-confidence, making one feel good.

When I was younger, I had a very straight, fine hair which I always kept short (the longest I got was shoulder-length); on a few occasions, even way too short. I always sported the bob with bangs (in high school, we called it the "Nancy Drew" look); I've tried the "seven" cut, crop, the boy cut. In college, I was daring enough to sport the Punk hairstyle. I had my locks chopped unevenly short with spikes which made me look like the pinoy version of an Auschwitz prisoner.

In the late 90's, I went on a crash diet which resulted in excessive hair loss. Thanks to my dermatologist's effective, albeit, expensive hair loss treatment, I still have my crowning glory intact today, although after the two-month treatment, my hair strands grew "too healthy" and became coarse. My hair is also no longer as straight as it was before.

I've been wearing my hair long for three years now because my hubby prefers it long. When I got here in the U.S., I noticed that my hair became dry. I tried a variety of shampoo and conditioner to see which would best suit my dry and color-treated hair.

Among the ones I tried, two products stood out: Matrix's Biolage Colorcaretherapie Shampoo and Conditioner and Chaz Dean's Wen Cleansing Conditioner.

I like Biolage shampoo's natural organic scent. I discovered Wen Cleansing Conditioner two months ago on an infomercial which had Melissa Gilbert (I used to watch her on Little House on the Praire back in high school) indorsing the product. Out of curiosity, I ordered the product (it came in a set with three other Wen Hair Care products) and I did not regret buying it. Unlike a regular shampoo, this one does not produce lather. It has a mild and pleasant smell and leaves my hair smooth and manageable. I am satisfied with the results that I have continued using it for nearly two months now.
